In line with their study of the Earth and Sun this term in Science, students in Years 5 and 6 completed a Solar Cooking experiment. Students used pizza boxes, aluminium foil and plastic sleeves to create a mini oven, in the hope it would cook marshmallows and chocolate. Although the sun and temperature were not particularly kind to us, students did see some results from the very little sun we had, increasing the temperature of the mini oven to melt the chocolate and marshmallows. The students have been doing some excellent work during their science lessons, looking at the solar system, creating a scaled solar system and now studying energy and sources of power. Â
